Prepare for change at StocExpo

This year’s StocExpo conference programme takes a unique look into what a terminal will look like in the future. With keynote presentations from the European Commission, market-leading energy producer Engie and the world’s largest terminal operator Vopak, Day One of StocExpo will look at how terminals need to adapt to a decarbonised energy sector. Topics will include the future role of hydrogen; developments in the LNG sector; How terminals can produce more renewable energy; the EU’s energy policy and the demand for power storage.

Day two will take a closer look at innovation in the storage sector, with a focus on digital transformation in tank storage. Also joining the conference is Martin van den Bosch from Netherlands Seaport Police, helping terminals to tackle the growing problem of storage spoofing.

The European Green Deal: Making Europe climate neutral by 2050

10:05

  • EU Heads of State agreed on the long term climate policy objective to make the European Union  climate neutral by 2050. Deep modernisation and transformation of the EU economy and society within the next three decades is needed to accomplish this ambitious objective.
  • The European Green Deal will be the first step to implement this new growth strategy. 50 new initiatives in the coming two years in the energy sector, industry, mobility, agriculture, environment, social policies, taxation, research and innovation as well as external and trade policies.
  • Investments in clean technologies, new business models, innovative processes leading through sector coupling to a circular economy will have to be significantly stepped up over the coming decade.
  • The Sustainable Europe Investment Plan will mobilise additional public and private financial resources. Increased investment and innovation will lay the foundation for sustainable economic prosperity and employment strengthening the competitiveness of the EU economy.
