Maurits Kreijkes, COVA

With a background in systems engineering, policy analysis and management Maurits Kreijkes found his way into the energy industry where he is currently employed as senior oil market analyst for COVA, the central stockpiling agency that secures the Strategic Petroleum Reserves for the Netherlands.
As linking pin between the oil industry and government Maurits is working on the interface of the challenges Europe is currently facing regarding energy security. He has a crucial role as advisor to the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy on oil security, stockpiling and oil market developments. He is involved in a lot of IEA work as delegate to the Standing Group on Emergency Question (SEQ) and the Standing Group on the Oil Market (SOM), but also as member of the Oil Stockholding Task Force to future proof the IEA stockholding requirement.
His previous work as energy researcher at the Clingendael International Energy Program involved training diplomats. At CIEP he published about the EU refining sector, the Dutch energy system, decarbonisation through clean gases and the refinery of the future.
During his professional career as researcher and analyst he gained a lot of experience with the geopolitical role of energy, policy analysis and expertise on energy market dynamics.
