The findings from a number of reviews of major national emergencies and disasters made clear that the emergency services generally carry out their individual roles efficiently and professionally. However, there were some common themes relating to joint working where improvement was needed – JESIP was established to address these issues. Our aim of ‘working together, saving lives’ is achieved through the delivery of a Joint Doctrine which sets out the Common models and principles to achieve interoperability. Locally services train their responders and commanders in these principles, which are also assured through an exercise programme. Whilst initially aimed at the Emergency Services, the JESIP principles are now used by the UK Military, Coastguard, and private sector organisations. Finally, we look to provide continuous improvement through a lessons management system and governance board.

LASTFIRE is an industry project by a group of fuel storage companies developing best practice in all aspects of storage tank Fire Hazard Management. The Group has worked on projects ranging from Internal Floating Roof Tank roof fire resistance to Tank Fire Responder Competency and Crude Oil Boilovers.
The current focus is the transition to Fluorine Free Fire Fighting Foam – a critical issue as legislative restrictions increase around the World. LASTFIRE has carried out the most extensive range of end-user driven foam application tests for more than 50 years and is the industry focal point on this subject.
