Ethylene cracking furnaces typically operate at temperatures above 1000℃. Radiant heat transfer is the primary method of heating the material in the furnace tubes. This radiant heat consists of direct radiation from fuel combustion and radiation emitted by the lining after absorbing the thermal energy from fuel combustion. The furnace tubes can only absorb infrared radiation within a certain wavelength range based on their material properties.
