INEOS Olefins & Polymers has received its first deliveries of pyrolysis oil at its manufacturing facility in Lavera, Southern France, marking a significant step forward in the company’s journey toward circular and sustainable plastics.
This innovative feedstock, derived from recycled plastic packaging waste, is produced in Europe using advanced recycling technologies. Unlike mechanical recycling, this process converts hard-to-recycle post-consumer waste into high-quality pyrolysis oil that can be used as a direct substitute for conventional fossil-based feedstocks.
Part of the Lavera cracker has been adapted to process this renewable material alongside traditional feedstocks. This enables the production of recycled ethylene and propylene, which are then transformed into virgin-quality recycled polyethylene and polypropylene. These polymers are produced across INEOS sites in Lavera, Sarralbe, and Rosignano.
