Greenergy has proposed plans to end production at its biodiesel plant in Immingham.

Despite cost-cutting efforts aimed at improving the plant’s viability, operations at Immingham have continued to face challenges due to external market pressures. This decision follows a strategic review of Greenergy’s biodiesel operations at the site, initiated in late May. A formal consultation process with affected employees will begin shortly.

The proposed closure reflects growing pressure on UK biofuels, driven by weak blending mandates and rising international competition.
