INEOS Invests in Major UK Emissions Cut.

INEOS has completed a £30M project at its Hull site, transitioning from natural gas to low-carbon hydrogen. The result? A 75% reduction in CO₂ emissions, comparable to taking 160,000 cars off UK roads.

This step puts the plant on track to become the world’s first net-zero acetic acid producer, a key material in industries from packaging to pharmaceuticals.

However, regulatory uncertainty threatens progress. The UK Environment Agency may delay issuing crucial carbon allowances due to the upgrade, raising concerns about the impact on future clean tech investments.
