HyFive has taken two further steps to advance its HyMet Musel e-methanol project, reinforcing both its commercial position and downstream market access. 

The company has signed a Letter of Intent with Evos to explore storage and handling for e-methanol at the Port of Rotterdam, giving the project a potential route to market in the ARA region. HyFive said the agreement could help establish a downstream presence in an area that is becoming increasingly important for alternative marine fuels and heavy industry. 

HyFive has also signed a second term sheet for 10,000 tonnes per annum of e-methanol with a customer in the ARA region. Combined with the earlier agreement, this brings total contracted volume from the project to 60,000 tonnes per annum, equal to 60% of HyMet Musel’s planned annual capacity. 

The company said these developments support the growth of renewable methanol supply and the decarbonisation of shipping.
