ATEX Static Grounding Systems
Static electricity can build up on process equipment, the energy content of a static discharge can be the cause of fire and/or explosions in ATEX environments. Static grounding of process equipment and other objects prevents the build-up of electrostatic charges, and thus also prevents the potential danger.
Static Grounding Protection for Bigbags Type C
The need of a proper grounding for FIBC Bigbags can not be underestimated to improve safety in loading/unloading processes. The IECEx / ATEX / SIL2 Earth-Rite® FIBC system monitors the resistance of Type C FIBC bags ensuring the static dissipative elements of the bag are capable of conducting electrostatic charges through the FIBC in compliance with IEC 61340-4-4 “Standard test methods for specific applications – Electrostatic classification of flexible intermediate bulk containers (FIBC)” and NFPA 77 “Recommended Practice on Static Electricity”.

Static Earthing Protection for Trucks
Static electricity can be generated during handling of non-conducting liquids and powders. The need of a proper grounding for trucks can not be underestimated to improve safety in loading/unloading processes. The IECEx / ATEX / SIL2 Earth-Rite® RTR systems from Newson Gale verify the integrity of the real earth, checks if the grounding clamp is connected with a truck, and checks the connection between the truck and the verified earth. The IEC60079-32-1 describes exactly what to do to safely ground trucks in flammable and explosive (ATEX) environments. Newson Gale designs systems which meet the strictest standards and guidelines. The Earth-Rite® MULTIPOINT II grounding system offers the possibility to check up to 8 independent components for proper grounding. At locations where the earthing of multiple process components has to be verified, the cost price for installing multiple independent systems is high. The Earth-Rite® MULTIPOINT II system offers the possibility to minimize the purchase and installation costs without sacrificing in terms of safety.
