Effee AS
About us
Effee is a specialist within advanced onsite robotics and robotic welding focusing on cutting-edge solutions for turn-around-, in-service- and on-stream repairs to maximize asset uptime, improve HSE and reduce POB.
By welding on live process equipment, Effee ensures that essential repairs are carried out without interrupting production, minimizing downtime and maximizing efficiency for energy companies. In addition to this, Effee offers remote robotic operations, enabling repairs in inaccessible areas, such as corrosion damage or cracks, with precision and significantly improved safety. This innovative approach allows Effee to handle complex challenges in industries where access is limited, ensuring seamless, on-the-spot solutions for equipment maintenance and longevity.

Volume repairs
The speed of a welding robot in the field is unmatched by any human. Typically, our robots deliver 5–10 times the efficiency of an experienced welder. With our skilled robot operators, welding defects can be reduced to a minimum. The high level of control allows for lower heat input, and hence less welding deformations. Typical high-volume welding tasks include corrosion repairs with extensive damage such as CUI remediation, tank wall build-up, and flange repairs. Faster repairs, larger coverage, higher quality, and improved HSE are just some of the benefits.

Flair and remote Repair
Flare and remote repair Flares are often prone to corrosion issues, and repairs are costly due to limited access and required downtime. With our remotely operated robots, we specialize in performing inspections and repairs while the flare remains in service, significantly reducing downtime. At Norway’s largest refinery, Mongstad, we saved the asset owner several weeks of unplanned shutdown by repairing a steam leak with the flare still in operation. Our remotely operated robots can also be used in other situations where human intervention is risky or impractical, such as over water on offshore platforms or in hazardous confined spaces.

On-stream Repair
Some equipment has previously required shut down prior to welding. It can be because the equipment contains pressure, dangerous content such as hydrocarbons or both these at the same time. In Effee we use extensive qualification techniques involving modelling, laboratory testing, 1:1 testing to ensure integrity in these critical welding operations. The robot ensures a handshake between the simulations and reality reproducing the exact same result as the simulations – first in the lab and then on the asset. The approach has been welcomed on HC containing tanks, pressurized piping and in FPSO internal hull, below the waterline.
