Stainless steel storage tank
GPI is specialist on the field of storage tanks, no job is too big for us (or too small). We build tanks with a capacity from one to up to ten million litres. Small storage tanks to about 500 m3 - with a diameter up to six meters - are built in our two factories in Lopik. Delivery may take place by water or land. Tanks with diameters ranging from six to twenty-five meters are produced in our area by the Lek River, where they are waiting for transportation by water. If transportation is not possible, then we can build tanks on your premises. For the production of such big tanks we use the efficient Coil Building system which can provide a great quality. First think, then build When you order a new storage tank, we will be happy to help you with the choices, which will make your tank resistant for the future. You may wish to cool or heat the stored product once, or maybe to protect it with a nitrogen layer. How does the cleaning look like, what are the possible restrictions in height, the bottom surface or permits? Or maybe it would be more convenient to store your product in two stages, for example in a double tank. It's about an important investment. We are pleased to plan along with you and to take care for your new tank not only to meet your current requirements and standards (construction), but also for it to be suitable for your possible needs in the future.

Storage tank
Gpi manufactures stainless steel storage tanks from 500 l to 15,000 m³. Depending on the destination, we can build the tanks in our factory in Lopik, in our factory in Groot-Ammers, or construct them on-location. We produce high-grade tanks and storage tanks up to a diameter of 6 m at our Lopik facility. From there, we can reach most locations quickly by road. If the tank cannot be transported by road, we often create storage tanks at our location in Groot Ammers. This factory is located right on the banks of the river Lek, allowing us to transport the tanks via water. If transporting the tanks to you is not an option, we can also build tanks measuring up to 30 metres in diameter and 30 metres in height directly on-location. For this, we often use our Coil Building system, which ensures highly-efficient manufacture and high-quality tanks. Safety is of the highest importance for tanks of any size produced by any construction method, both during manufacture and use. Tanks can be set up according to all the relevant standards, such as Eurocode 3, EN 14015, ASME and API 650. All technical designs, such as heated/cooled tanks, double bottoms, domed roofs, or double-walled tanks are possible.

Stainless Steel Storage Tank
Gpi produces all kinds of storage tanks in all sorts of sizes for all applications and industries imaginable. This range spans high-quality finished 500 litre vessels for pharmaceutical end products, to 15,000 m3 tanks for drinking water or the storage of semi-finished products in the chemical industry. For storing high-quality products Gpi manufactures stainless steel storage tanks from 500 l to 15,000 m³. EN 14015 tank
EN 14015 Vertical flat-bottomed tanks The EN 14015 is the European standard for the design and manufacture of vertical, cylindrical, above-ground, welded steel tanks with flat bottoms. The tanks are designed for the storage of liquids at ambient temperature and higher. This norm dictates tank design, manufacture, welding, inspection and installation requirements. These tanks are designed in order to withstand low internal pressures, for the storage of typical products such as crude oil, petrol, chemicals and water. If your installation has to satisfy the PGS 29 directive, then newly-built tanks must comply with EN 14015. Gpi has extensive experience in the production of EN 14015 tanks, varying from tanks built in the factory up to +/- 500m3, to tanks built on-location up to +/-15,000 m3. Depending on the desired design and design conditions, these tanks are equipped with a conical roof or a doomed roof, with or without anchors and stiffening rings, such as wind girders and/or a top corner ring. Naturally, these tanks can be provided with a spiral staircase, a cage ladder or a stairway. In terms of material, a form of duplex is often chosen. Due to this material being stronger than normal austenitic stainless steel variants, thin walls can be employed, which ensure for a more rapid, higher quality and affordable tank. Although EN 14015 is primarily meant to apply to tanks manufactured on site, Gpi can also build tanks that conform with EN 15015 in the factory. We do this in our various factories, on the water or by the road. When building on-location, we employ our Coil Building system. Read more about this system here, or watch our Coil Building film.

Stainless steel tank construction
Gpi Tanks XL is your specialist when it comes to major stainless steel tank projects. We produce stainless steel storage tanks with diameters and heights up to 30 metres either in our XL production hall or on site. We have clients in a range of niche markets, from the food industry to the chemicals industry, pharmaceuticals industry and cosmetics industry. Every organisation and every industry has its own needs and peculiarities and unique products and processes. We pay close attention to these differences to ensure that communication is as smooth as possible and help add value to projects. Tank construction – the design It all starts with a robust tank design. Once a quote has been finalised, our engineers get to work designing the tank. Working closely with the client, they design the tank(s) and their details using our proprietary software TankDesign. We produce all of our products to specification and ensure cost-efficient designs, long service lives and minimal maintenance costs. Our Tank construction methods Shop built

Complete production in our XL production hall in Groot-Ammers.

Stainless steel tanks with a capacity to 5000 m3.

Transport and installation taken care of.

We can ship tanks directly via the waterways.

Single tank on site

One or multiple XL tank(s) constructed on site.

To 30 metres diameter and 30 metres in height.

When transport or installation on site is difficult or impossible.

Efficient production on site with our proprietary coil building system.

Multiple tanks on site

Multiple XL tanks constructed on site.

To 30 metres diameter and 30 metres in height.

When transport or installation on site is difficult or impossible.

An efficient process for the production of multiple tanks on site at the same time.

Tank construction method: Shop Built
- Stainless steel tanks to approx. 5000 m3 - Where transport is an option - Production in our XL production hall in Groot-Ammers - Transport and installation taken care of - Thanks to our location on the river Lek, we can also ship tanks directly via the waterways How does a shop built project work? We can produce tanks up to 5000 m3 in our Gpi Tanks XL production hall in Groot-Ammers, taking care of everything from start to finish, including production, transport and installation. As soon as our engineering department has finalised the design, production can begin. Our production hall is equipped with state-of-the-art machinery and resources to help us efficiently construct high-quality tanks to meet your exacting requirements. Production We construct tanks layer by layer from bottom to top. Each hull section starts life in the decoiler, where the stainless steel sheet is unrolled in the correct shape. The ends are then welded together. Hull sections are then attached to one another before being passed to the stretcher where they are neatly joined together. Once the hull sections have been joined, they are welded, before returning to the stretcher for the weld seam to be smoothed out, allowing the tank to be finished more efficiently and retain its shape. The final phase, comprising grinding (if required), pickling and passivating, can then begin.

Tank construction method: Single tank on site
- One or multiple XL tank(s) constructed on site - Carried out efficiently with our proprietary coil building system (one tank at a time) - When transport or installation on site is difficult or impossible How does single tank on site work? Transporting large tanks is often a challenge. Although many things are possible, transporting tanks by road or water is not always an (attractive) option. On some occasions, installation on a client’s premises is infeasible, such as when a tank needs to be hoisted into a plant building by crane, but there’s no access to allow it to happen. In cases like these, we can construct the tank on site. Our proprietary coil building system enables us to work efficiently on sites around the world – we produce the complete tank on site. Production A number of containers of material and machinery are transported to the location, together with the team (which includes welders). Once at the location, we set up our proprietary coil building system on site as the basis for the tank construction. Our machinery unrolls a stainless steel sheet for one hull section, cuts it to size and then welds it automatically. Once the first layer of the tank is complete, computer-guided hydraulic lifts raise the hull section so that the next section can be inserted in the same way. The tank is constructed step by step from the bottom. All work is carried out efficiently and at workable height.

Tank construction method: Multiple tanks on site
- Multiple XL tanks constructed on site - Up to 30 metres high and 30 metres wide - Our efficient process and efficient teams can produce multiple tanks at the same time - When transport is difficult or impossible How does a multiple tanks on site project work? In a multiple tanks on site project, we construct multiple tanks at the same time on site. To do this, we use a central crane for the hoisting work, with different locations around the crane for the various production phases, thereby ensuring a smooth transition between processes. Moving one large tank from the production hall to its final destination can prove to be an enormous challenge. Transporting a series of tanks is, therefore, even more of a challenge. Although many things are possible, constructing a tank in the production hall and transporting it is not always the most attractive option. If you’re having a series of tanks constructed, a multiple build project may be a sensible decision.
