LEC specializes in preventing lightning-related problems and eliminating lightning-related risk. Our largest customer group is the petroleum industry. Our primary product being promoted at StocExpo is the Retractable Grounding Assembly (RGA), which is a bonding device made for floating roof storage tanks. Over 18,000 RGA’s are currently in service at every major oil company in the world.

Lightning Protection Products
All of LEC’s Lightning Strike Prevention and Protection Systems use charge transfer technology which continually reduces the localized electrostatic charge in the atmosphere so that lightning cannot terminate within the protected area. Find out what you need first! How this is approached is dependent on your environment, facility and your financial requirements. It can be as simple as a Technical Review of photos, drawings and building plans by our LEC solution specialists in-house and at no cost, which delivers a 'proposal of recommendations' to the client for further investigation at a later date and is preliminary; or more efficiently through a Site Evaluation which includes an on-site visit by one or more LEC solution specialists who study a number of key areas first hand. This visit can range from a one day, to a comprehensive multi-day event for large sites with complex electrical systems. Overall cost is based on the scope and complexity of the site and a Report with Scope of Work is generated. In some cases this is all a client might need to move forward, but neither does not include the level of Detail that a Study or Survey would.
Grounding Products
Traditional grounding methods and aged grounding systems can be ineffective in high stress situations such as a lightning event. LEC has engineered low-impedance grounding systems that provide effective grounding during high-intensity lightning strikes. Surge Protection Products
LEC’s advanced surge protection products are designed for all applications that require protection from the surges (one of the secondary effects of lightning) and man-made transients. Our products are specially designed to supplement lightning prevention systems, including DAS®.
Retractable Grounding Assembly (RGA)
The RGA is a bonding device for floating roof tanks. The RGA will create a positive electrical bond across the seal between the roof and shell, to eliminate the possibility of arcing between the two surfaces. Arcing at this seal is the leading cause of floating roof tank fires. Installation of the RGA will eliminate this risk.
