Fighting VOC Emissions with Advanced Enclosed Combustion Technology

As global environmental regulations become increasingly stringent, the control of volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions has become a critical priority across the oil & gas, petrochemical and refining sectors. VOCs contribute to ozone formation, greenhouse gas emissions and hazardous atmospheres, driving authorities worldwide to impose tighter emission limits.

To address these challenges, industries require reliable and highly efficient vapor combustion technologies. Aereon’s CEB® (Clean Enclosed Burner) technology represents a certified Best Available Technology (BAT) solution for enclosed vapor combustion, combining the performance of a thermal oxidizer with the safety and operational flexibility of an enclosed ground flare.

The CEB® system is based on a patented multi-layered knitted metal fiber surface where premixed surface combustion occurs. The waste gas, mixed with combustion air in a controlled chamber, is oxidized at temperatures between 1100–1200°C, ensuring a destruction rate efficiency (DRE) greater than 99.99% while maintaining ultra-low NOx emissions.

Unlike traditional flare systems, CEB® technology operates with no visible flame, no smoke, no smell and minimal heat radiation. The enclosed, insulated combustion chamber enhances safety, reduces noise and allows installation close to other equipment or sensitive areas.

Its modular design (0.5–45 MW) enables flexible configurations to meet specific process requirements across upstream, midstream and downstream applications, including pipeline depressurization, tank degassing, well testing and emergency backup operations.

By combining environmental compliance, high efficiency, low operational costs and simplified installation, Aereon’s CEB® technology provides a future-ready solution for advanced VOC emission control.
