This is a major milestone for the industry. Historically, standards like API 653 and EEMUA 159 focused only on detection, leaving sizing to manual ultrasonic verification; a process that meant longer downtime, more labor, and increased exposure in confined spaces.
The new RP 575 changes that. It formally recognizes 𝗠𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗙𝗹𝘂𝘅 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗮𝗴𝗲 (𝗠𝗙𝗟) technology as capable of quantitative sizing, not just detection.

𝗥𝗢𝗦𝗘𝗡 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. Collaborating with the API - American Petroleum Institute, we first helped drive updates in 𝗔𝗣𝗜 𝟲𝟱𝟯 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗲𝘅 𝗚 (Qualification of Tank Bottom Examination Procedures and Personnel), introducing clear performance criteria: 𝗳𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀, 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗣𝗢𝗗) 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 for hashtag#tankfloor scanners. Our database for these criteria has been built up since 1997 and keeps growing continuously, further emphasizing their significance.

While most tools primarily focused on detection, 𝗥𝗢𝗦𝗘𝗡’𝘀 𝗧𝗕𝗜𝗧 𝗨𝗹𝘁𝗿𝗮, delivers quantitative sizing aligned with these factors. This is possible thanks to constant exchange between the system and customer data, which enables us to improve the process continuously.

Our 𝗧𝗕𝗜𝗧 𝗨𝗹𝘁𝗿𝗮 service combines MFL and Eddy Current (EC) to detect and automatically size metal loss defects in tank floors, meeting API RP 575 requirements and enabling safer, faster, and more reliable inspections.
