Abandoned oil storage tank catches fire

The Sharjah Civil Defence teams manged to bring under control a fire that erupted in an abandoned oil storage warehouse in Al Sajaa on Wednesday morning.

According to an official source, the operations room at Sharjah Directorate of Civil Defence received a report at 8:35am that a fire broke out in Al Sajaa Industrial Area. Accordingly, the Civil Defence vehicles rushed to the scene of the fire, where it was found that the flames resulted from the burning of oil remnants in three abandoned warehouses.

The teams began continuous operations to put out the fire until they were able to bring it under control within a period of 30 minutes. No casualties were reported, the source said, adding that the teams continued to cool the scene of the fire in order to avoid more flames. The scene will then be handed over to the competent authorities to uncover what caused the fire.
