The Port of Rotterdam achieved total bunker sales of 9,454,266 cubic metres (cbm) of fuel in 2020 – up more than half a million cbm, or around 5%, on the 8,949,794 cbm delivered in 2019.
Fuel oil sales were up from 7,174,099 cbm to 7,517,984 cbm. Sales of marine gasoil (MGO) were down from 1,494,194 cbm to 1,398,588 cbm, but marine diesel oil (MDO) volumes more than doubled from 208,214 cbm to 463,971 cbm.
As one would expect, there was a big jump in LNG bunker sales, from 71,555 cbm in 2019 to 194,134 cbm.
The year ended strongly for the Rotterdam bunker market, with total Q4 sales of 2,507,460 cbm compared to 2,268,491 cbm in the final quarter of 2019.
Fuel oil sales in Q4 were up from last year’s 1,777,649 cbm to 1,992,687 cbm. MGO sales were down from 408,982 cbm to 328,752 cbm, but MDO saw a big increase from 61,931 cbm to 168,305 cbm. The Q4 LNG bunker sales were to 54,448 cbm from last year’s 20,601 cbm.
As previously reported by Bunkerspot, Singapore also logged a 5% increase in bunker sales for 2020.
