Meet Lewis Porter, our European Sales Manager and an integral member of the Elmac team

How long have you been in the Bulk Storage
industry?

I have worked within the Bulk Storage industry for almost 8 years. 3 years with Elmac Technologies and almost 5 years within the Engineering Department of a well-established Chemical Manufacturing Plant.

Having completed a Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship shortly
after leaving school, my hands-on experience serves as a real benefit
in my role. Whether that be when reviewing difficult applications,
completing site visits, or demonstrating the working principles of Flame Arresters and Pressure Protection Equipment.

What is the biggest change you have seen in the Bulk Storage industry at this time?

The obvious change to all industries is COVID-19, which has affected
businesses and personal lives in equal measure.
For Bulk Storage though, the pandemic has resulted in a higher demand for tanks and tank equipment, (Sanitiser being one example) and as a
result, we decided to bring forward the launch of our flagship product of the year, the Flame Arrester Breather Valve (or FAB Valve™ as it is better known).

The other big change in the Bulk Storage industry is the eagerness to achieve net-zero status and reduce emissions/pollution. This is where the FAB ValveTM comes into its own, by conserving stored product and preventing excessive fugitive emissions. The patented Pressure/Vacuum Relief Valve and Flame Arrester combination is ideal for providing enhanced protection to storage tanks thanks to
its lightweight construction and exceptional flow capacity.

What is the best part of your role?

The best part of my role is working as part of a fantastic, supportive and driven team. Elmac is an excellent company to work for and there is a true “family feel” between all members of the team. We aim to go above and beyond for each other and, more importantly, for our customers!

What is the most challenging part of your role?

The most challenging part of my role is also the most exciting and that is variation. Our products are utilised in almost all industries,
so one day I am working on an application for Oil and Gas and the next I am completing a site visit at a Distillery. This, of course, is challenging but the Elmac team includes many industry experts, meaning when additional support is required, we have it in
abundance.

What advice would you give your 21-year-old self?

Be patient, it will happen!

What are your best tips for coping during this time?

1. Surround yourself with good, positive people.
2. Avoid self-criticism and always believe in yourself.
3. Make time for your hobbies and interests.
4. Take care of yourself, mentally and physically.

What are you most looking forward to at StocExpo 2022?

I am looking forward to demonstrating the working principles our newly launched FAB Valve™ and explaining how it helps our
customers to reduce their emissions and helping them work towards net-zero status. I am also really looking forward to catching up
and interacting with both new and existing customers.
