Perpetual Next Secures Lease for Methanol Plant in Delfzijl

Perpetual Next has signed an agreement with Groningen Seaports for the lease of a 16-hectare site in Delfzijl, where the company plans to build a new methanol plant.

The Delfzijl site offers direct access to the waterway and is well-equipped with infrastructure, making it ideally located for international supply and removal, according to Perpetual Next. Additionally, the company will have priority access to a new loading and unloading quay that will be constructed at the site.

Production Capacity and Sustainability

Perpetual Next intends to build four biomethanol plants in total—located in Delfzijl, Moerdijk, Vägari (Estonia), and Florida (US). Each plant will have an annual production capacity of 220,000 tons. The facilities will convert organic waste into biomethanol, which the company claims serves as a direct replacement for fossil-based, “grey” methanol, advancing sustainable fuel alternatives.
