DHL Group has revealed a significant expansion of its sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) partnership with IAG Cargo, the freight division of International Airlines Group (IAG).
Under a new five-year deal, combined with a prior renewal for 2025, the arrangement is expected to see around 240 million litres of SAF supplied at London Heathrow Airport. This is projected to lower lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions from DHL Express shipments carried on British Airways flights.
As part of the agreement, DHL Express will account for Scope 3 emissions reductions linked to roughly 40 million litres of pure SAF each year. Together with the earlier renewal, this corresponds to an estimated total lifecycle emissions reduction of about 640,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent.
