Uniper launches open season for Wilhelmshaven hydrogen import terminal

Uniper Hydrogen GmbH has initiated an Open Season process for capacity bookings at its proposed hydrogen import terminal in Wilhelmshaven.

The Wilhelmshaven facility is designed to support hydrogen imports using ammonia as a carrier medium. After unloading, the ammonia will be processed through a large-scale on-site cracking unit to extract hydrogen, which will then be supplied to Germany’s core hydrogen transmission network. The terminal will also include dedicated rail-loading infrastructure to facilitate the secure and efficient transport of ammonia by rail.
