What is TAS Nuovo Petrol?

TAS Nuovo Petrol is a fully integrated Terminal Automation System designed to supervise and control loading and unloading operations in tank storage. It provides a complete overview of automation processes for fluid, semi‑fluid and dense products handled via road tankers, rail tankers and barges. The solution is built on a modern client‑server architecture with a fully web‑based interface, accessible from any authorised device within the storage network, eliminating the need for dedicated client software.

The platform brings together terminal control, data acquisition and process intelligence in a single environment, enabling operators to monitor and optimise critical activities from anywhere on the network via a standard browser.

What challenge did Loginet address?

Loginet set out to solve the challenge of managing complex loading and unloading operations across multiple transport methods while maintaining high levels of safety, efficiency and operational reliability. Traditional systems often lacked real‑time visibility, centralised control and seamless integration with ERP platforms and field instrumentation. Ensuring continuous system availability, minimising downtime and improving traceability and compliance were critical requirements. The project also aimed to support predictive maintenance and faster decision‑making through advanced monitoring and data analysis capabilities.

What solution did Loginet implement?

Loginet implemented TAS Nuovo Petrol, a fully integrated Terminal Automation System designed to optimise and supervise loading and unloading operations for oil and fluid products. The solution is based on a modern client‑server architecture using open‑source technologies and a web‑based interface accessible from any device within the storage network.

Key elements of the solution include:
  • Technology and architecture
    • Modern client‑server architecture built on open‑source technologies
    • Fully web‑based interface, requiring no dedicated client software
  • Integration and continuity
    • Seamless integration with ERP systems, field devices and instrumentation
    • Centralised management to ensure operational continuity across the terminal
  • Analytics and optimisation
    • Advanced Business Intelligence and Data Mining tools for near real‑time monitoring
    • Anomaly detection, predictive maintenance and process optimisation
    • Centralised software updates to reduce downtime and maintenance effort
    • Secure data storage to enhance traceability, compliance and long‑term operational reliability

What made this solution different?

TAS Nuovo Petrol differentiates itself through its fully web‑based architecture, which allows users to access the system from any authorised device within the storage network without the need for dedicated software installations. This approach simplifies maintenance, enables centralised updates and ensures all operators always work with the latest software version, reducing downtime and operational complexity.

Another key advantage is its high level of integration and adaptability. The system can seamlessly interface with both Loginet devices and third‑party technologies, including existing legacy equipment and newly installed systems. This flexibility allows terminals and storage facilities to expand, upgrade or modify their infrastructure without replacing the entire automation platform, protecting long‑term investments and simplifying future developments.

What impact did Loginet achieve?

The new TAS Nuovo Petrol has delivered measurable operational improvements for terminals. Its fully web‑based architecture and centralised update model ensure a significant increase in system availability and reduced downtime. Streamlined logistics processes have led to a reduction in carrier waiting times, improving the overall flow of vehicles through the terminal.

IT maintenance costs have dropped significantly because the solution does not require dedicated client software on individual workstations. These improvements together ensure continuous operational reliability, high traceability and optimised terminal efficiency, while giving operators a more intuitive and consistent working environment.

What were the biggest success or highlight?

One of the most important achievements of the project has been the creation of a future‑proof automation environment capable of adapting to the evolving needs of industrial terminals. TAS Nuovo Petrol allows operators to manage complex activities through a simple browser interface while maintaining full compatibility with a wide range of technologies and equipment.

This flexibility has made system expansions, storage modifications and technology upgrades faster and less disruptive. Facilities can improve productivity, simplify day‑to‑day operations and maintain high standards of control and service continuity without major overhauls of their existing infrastructure.

What is next for the TAS Nuovo Petrol?

Following the successful deployment of its mobile application, which has already revolutionised driver safety and real‑time data access, the next phase of TAS Nuovo Petrol focuses on integrating Artificial Intelligence to create a truly proactive ecosystem. Loginet is implementing AI‑driven algorithms to enhance predictive maintenance and anomaly detection capabilities across the terminal.

By analysing high‑frequency data from field sensors, such as temperature probes, the system will be able to identify loading irregularities and potential equipment failures before they escalate. This evolution will further reduce downtime, optimise terminal throughput and ensure the highest standards of operational reliability and safety for both assets and people.
