Ghana’s first LNG cargo set for end of May
Ghana expects to receive its first liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo by the end of this month (May).
The project, which is backed by Helios Investment Partners and Africa Infrastructure Investment Managers, will consist of separate regasification and storage vessels and have the capacity to import 1.7 million mt/year of LNG.
Shell will supply the LNG as Ghana prepares to become sub-Saharan Africa’s first importer.
“The first cargo is currently expected for the end of May,” a spokesman for the project told S&P Global Platts.
“The project is operationally ready, and is currently awaiting an agreement between Shell and GNPC on the first delivery date.”
