The Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla announced the launch of the construction of the petroleum zone in El-Tebbin at the “Modern Area” on an area of 1,000 feddans, the ministry said in a statement.
The zone will consist of several projects including the infrastructure expansion for the petroleum transportation grid from and to Upper Egypt through El-Tebbin.
The announcement was made during the meeting of the High Committee for Geographic Petroleum Areas chaired by the minister and attended by a number of the petroleum sector’s leaders.
The meeting tackled the establishment of a petroleum storage and pumping station for Petroleum Pipelines Company (PPC) with investments of EGP 1.8 billion.
El Molla affirmed that this new zone will be part of the development of the oil and gas infrastructure which started six years ago. He added that this development will support Egypt’s position in the world as an oil and gas trade hub.
