Meet Anamika, Tank Storage Magazine Editor

What was your first week like?

The first week was very full-on! I jumped right in with writing up news articles and subediting pieces for the Aug/Sept issue that goes to print next week. On top of that was all the training on new systems – not to mention that I know next to nothing about tank storage! But the whole team has been very welcoming and supportive. Plus, there was a pub evening right at the start, so that helped me get to know everyone.

What are you most looking forward to whilst working with us?

I’m really looking forward to all the events that Easyfairs put on. It’s a really exciting time to be in the gas and oil industry as we move towards developing more sustainable technologies and fuels, so I’m really looking forward to seeing the innovations first-hand.

What do you do in your free time?

I’m a very social person, so spend a lot of time with friends and family. I’ve also taken up embroidery, so will spend a quiet evening watching some kind of fantasy or comedy show whilst stitching – which often inspires my work.

Are you excited to be on-site and networking with the tank storage community?

Absolutely! I’ve been to quite a lot of trade and consumer events where networking with exhibitors is key – and that tends to be the most fun part! I’m also very excited by the international travel opportunities with Tank Storage Magazine.

What is a fun fact about yourself?

I spent my university years singing in an a capella choir – which means no music; just our voices! Nowadays, though, I just sing in the shower or at karaoke…

What does sustainability mean to you and how important is it?

To me, living sustainably is all about trying to minimise your impact on the planet and society – it’s absolutely crucial to the longevity of our communities. As an individual, it’s much harder to make a big impact – no matter how many coffee cups or straws I replace with a reusable one, the waste products are still being made. I do think it’s up to corporations to lead the way and I’m looking forward to seeing how industry develops over the coming years to become more sustainable.
