Oil spill at Pernaco in Dorset

On Sunday 26 March a major incident was declared after an oil leak rom an onshore field in Dorset, UK was found.

The leak had come from the Wytch Farm facility in the Purbecks, one of the largest onshore oilfields in Europe, owned by independent oil and gas company, Pernaco.

A incident management team was activated immediately and the leak was contained. However, oil had already contaminated water and the surrounding area.

Pernaco and local authorities are working together to see what action needs to be taken.
