Asphalt tank catches fire in Missouri

A 2,200 gallon (8,328 L) asphalt tank caught fire at a depot owned by Spirit Asphalt in St Louis, Missouri, US, leading to the explosion of a nearby generator.
Fire crews from the local Hazelwood Fire Department (HFD) were dispatched to the site at 10.52am local time on 9 June 2022. All of the department’s units responded to the fire, which was caused by a spark which ignited the product while the tank was being filled. Pictures posted on social media by HFD show that the tank partially collapsed during the blaze.
No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
