Asphalt tank catches fire in Missouri

A 2,200 gallon (8,328 L) asphalt tank caught fire at a depot owned by Spirit Asphalt in St Louis, Missouri, US, leading to the explosion of a nearby generator.

Fire crews from the local Hazelwood Fire Department (HFD) were dispatched to the site at 10.52am local time on 9 June 2022. All of the department’s units responded to the fire, which was caused by a spark which ignited the product while the tank was being filled. Pictures posted on social media by HFD show that the tank partially collapsed during the blaze.
