European storage infrastructure company Evos and Canadian energy developer North Atlantic have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on a hydrogen import initiative at the Port of Amsterdam using liquid organic hydrogen carrier (LOHC) technology.
Under the proposed plan, LOHC produced in Canada would be transported to Amsterdam and stored at Evos’ terminal facilities. A dedicated dehydrogenation plant is expected to be developed near the storage site to extract hydrogen from the carrier. The recovered hydrogen would then be supplied to industrial customers through a connected hydrogen pipeline network.
